Hadlea's 2 Month Appointment
Yesterday we went to Hadlea's 2 month appointment. She had to have 3 shots and 1 oral vaccine. IT.WAS.TERRIBLE! Please...someone tell me they get easier! I know I was more nervous than her and definitely cried more! She cried for about a minute and then went to sleep. I think I cried for about 10 minutes! I was just so sad for her! Our doctor could NOT believe she was sleeping all night long. Here are her stats:

My little boy seems to react differently to his shots every time so it's hard to say whether or not it gets easeir for them. For me, I still cry every time - I hate seeing him have to get poked. It breaks my mommy heart!
Just hug and love and smother her with kisses afterwards - I think that's the only thing that helps!
It gets easier when they're still babies, but when they get old enough to know what's going on and that they are getting shots is when it's the hardest. That's when you have to hold them down or bribe them!
The shots are hard! You're a good Mommy for making sure she stays healthy. I love her baptismal photos -- what a wonderful weekend! :o)
the appointments are hard but get used to the shots cause I think they get them for the next few appointments, I dont really remember. Its not fun seeing our babies get shots but its for the best!

hi, I'm a blog lurker but your post today had me come out. When my daughter had her first "shot" appointment I was flipping out. I'm not good with shots (AND I had to have one in my BELLY the whole 9 months I was pregnant due to blood clotting) I was beside myself with fear for her appointment... I prayed and that didn't seem to help my immediate fear. I called a girlfriend and asked HOW am I going to do this. Knowing the first year is FULL of shots. She said "look into your babydoll's eyes and lock them and tell how brave she is and how proud you are of her." this keeps you from seeing the shot. Then scoop her up and feed her or snuggle her and love love love on her. My daughter is now 3 and I still do it and it totally helps me to focus ALL my energy on her and to encourage her BRAVERY. I know Hadlea is a few months, but I've done it since day one and it really helps me. Then when we get home the bandaids come off and I still tell her she's brave. Also, my pediatrician tells me to give her tylenol before the shot and it helps with pain and fever after. I have done this everytime to. Again, keeping busy helps mom.
My daughter had to have a minor eye surgery to unclog a tear duct and they had to put her under. I thought I was going to DIE. Again, by telling HER how BRAVE SHE was, helped me not focus on MY fears. As they get older they TOTALLY pick up on momma's fears.

Also, I am was a Manicurist until I became a stay at home mom. The finger nails, you can safely rip them or clip them when they are wet after a bath. Also, make sure to use the baby clippers. You can also file them when she's sleeping.
